One free tool that often gets over looked by webmasters is the Favicon [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon]. The Favicon is a great way to make your website stand out amongst the lists that social book marking sites (such as delicious) let you populate. I for one have huge lists of book marks and the Favicon has become the thing I look for to identify the link.

As well as book mark lists the Favicon is being implemented in other areas as well. Google have recently experimented with Favicons next to search results [http://www.marketingvox.com/google-tests-site-favicons-in-select-search-results-042938/]. I don’t see any reason for them not to implement this at some point so be prepared for Favicon fever as people explore the stats relating to how certain Favicons perform.

Here we have Bruce Clay explaining why rankings might not quite be dead after all! For me rankings are still important because it still the chief decider in whether your site gets found for a search.
What we should start to see is more relevant visitors and therefore a better conversion rate. This is just another part of Google’s quest to make their search results as relevant as possible to the user. Here we have a dofollow blog search that I put together about 4 months ago. The idea behind it is that you can provide good quality content on relevant content. Non-relevant links count for very little nowadays so any way to improve the quality of your link building should be tried! These blogs are in the habit of changing their minds on the issue and adding the nofollow tags back — but! You should still be posting on their blog with valuable comments because you’ve just found related content which means related users which means great traffic!
What is Squidoo?
This is the first of what will no doubt be many post about my adventures in Squidoo land!

So, for a while now i’ve been meaning to check out Squidoo. I’ve heard a lot of other people go on about it for various reasons, one being “do follow” links! As some of you know, finding a site where you can create your own content with links that are “dofollow” (i say “dofollow” but what i really mean is links which dont have nofollow attributes) is becoming a lot harder. Most Web 2.0 sites are very cautious about unsolicited links and add the nofollow to all outbound links by default. But Squidoo seem to be one of those sites which aren’t adopting the same stance.
Squidoo is a free to use, user supplied reference/information site where you can add pages about anything you want (within reason)! You then have the usual array of social interaction that you get with most social media applications; this being the option to make friends (or “become a fan of” in Squidoo terms), join related groups, comment on other peoples contributions etc. Continue reading How to use Squidoo for Link Building - Part 1

- It was about time i did!
- I regularly come across interesting discoveries about SEO, Online Marketing and the like, so why not share?!
- I needed a way to market myself.
- It looks fun!
